An O’Kelley/Kelley family genetically related to this Perry genetic signature in the male line has been identified. An adoption or other name change event to O’Kelley occurred not later than 1763. Descendants of the founder of this O’Kelley surname line can be found in Group 2 of the Kelley/Kelly/O’Kelly surname DNA project . More DNA testing and traditional research are needed to pinpoint where/when the surname change took place. This white O’Kelley line subsequently produced an African American O’Kelley line in the 1860s.
